Hello,
We're Karel and Sam, husband and wife and the founders of Renaissance. Together, we're building a future where education is abundant with choice — not just for learners everywhere but also for our own family.
Despite being one of the world's greatest equalizers, education has long been overlooked and underserved. From Sam's Montessori roots into teaching and tech, and Karel's path as a computer science dropout turned founder, we've seen firsthand the need to take education into our own hands, as well as the power of choice.
We're not here to dwell on the problems of K-12 education, we're here to bring solutions. While fixing it won't be easy, we've seen similar shifts in industries once thought too entrenched to change—like financial services and healthcare. What unlocked progress was the introduction of greater choice and agency.
Renaissance is building startups and products to unlock greater choice, agency, and personalization in education — because every child deserves a path that fits them.

Education is overdue for transformation. The world has changed dramatically, with technology creating possibilities that didn't exist even half a decade ago and careers becoming less linear. Yet the education that most have access to is outdated, and is not preparing learners for the world we live in today.
